On Sunday, June 12, 2016, Dinners with Love hosted Comfort Food for a Cause in the Private Dining Room at Café Provence in Brandon, Vermont.
And, boy, did we have fun! It was wonderful to share an evening of great food, great music, and great company with the community of supporters that surrounds Dinners with Love.
This fundraiser was a resounding success for our organization. Our very generous donors contributed more than $7,000! And we are anticipating an additional $4,000 in pledged donations. Our bellies may be full of mac 'n cheese, but our hearts are full of gratitude!
Our event was important not only for the amount of contributions it generated, but also for its timing. Just hours before, the deadliest mass shooting in the history of our nation occurred. The generosity of those who attended and supported Comfort Food for a Cause illustrates that there is a great deal more love than hate in our world.
As Mr. Rogers said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'"
With that, we would like to recognize and thank our "helpers," the local businesses and community members who made Comfort Food for a Cause a fun and successful evening. They donated food, prizes for the raffle, and their time.
